What is Browpexy?
Browpexy is a minimally invasive mini brow lift designed to subtly elevate and stabilise the brow, improving the eye area with very minimal scarring. Using fine sutures, it lifts the central and outer brow to reduce drooping and excess skin on the upper eyelid without the extensive incisions of traditional brow lifts. This procedure is performed under local anaesthetic for patient comfort and a quicker recovery.
CQC Registered Clinic
All procedures are carried out in our fully CQC-registered Cosmetic Surgery facility in Liverpool. There are two main types of browpexy:
- Internal Browpexy: Performed alongside upper eyelid blepharoplasty through the same eyelid crease incision, creating no additional visible scars while lifting the brow.
- External Browpexy: Involves a small incision just above the brow hairs, ideal for hiding scars within the hairline, especially suited for men with bushy brows.

Who is a Good Candidate?
Browpexy suits those with mild to moderate drooping of the outer brow and upper eyelid who seek a subtle lift without the scars or downtime of a full brow lift. It is often combined with blepharoplasty to prevent brow descent after eyelid surgery.Patients with more significant brow droop or forehead laxity may benefit from a Temporal Brow Lift or Direct BrowLift.
Recovery & Aftercare
Post-op swelling and bruising are common, lasting up to two weeks, with some numbness or tightness potentially continuing for several weeks. The dissolvable sutures cause minimal discomfort as they absorb. Patients are advised to take about a week off work and avoid strenuous exercise for 2–4 weeks.
How is Browpexy Performed
Browpexy can be done under local or general anaesthetic and typically takes 30 to 60 minutes.- Internal browpexy: The surgeon uses the same eyelid crease incision as blepharoplasty, placing sutures to secure the brow to the underlying bone for a lifted position.
- External browpexy: A small incision less than 1cm above the brow allows sutures to lift and stabilise the brow. Both techniques involve careful comparison of brow symmetry before finishing.
Results & Longevity
The final results emerge as swelling subsides, revealing a refreshed, natural appearance to the brow and eye area. Internal browpexy leaves scars hidden in the eyelid crease, while external browpexy scars are discreetly hidden in the brow hairline. Results typically last 2 to 5 years but may be extended with treatments like botox or dermal fillers.
Limitations & Risks
- Browpexy offers a subtle lift and is not suitable for severe brow droop or forehead sagging.
- Risks include swelling, bruising, numbness, dry or watery eyes, infection, scarring, and rare recurrence of drooping.
Choosing a skilled oculoplastic surgeon is vital for the best outcomes.
